Who is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?

Registered Dietitians (RD) are individuals who have

  • completed the minimum of a Baccalaureate degree granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university, or foreign equivalent;

  • met current minimum academic requirements (Didactic Program in Dietetics) as approved by The Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of The American Dietetic Association;

  • completed a minimum of 900 supervised practice hours of preprofessional experience accredited/approved by the Commission on Accreditation/Approval for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association;

  • successfully completed the Registration Examination for Dietitians;

  • remitted the annual registration maintenance fee; and

  • accrued 75 units of approved continuing professional education every five years.
